I’m Molly, otherwise known as @mollysellors - This year I found unexpected viral fame playing rave covers on my collection of oboes, recorders and other early instruments.
When I graduated, I thought I might end up playing some nice classical music in a cutesy church somewhere. Instead, I’ve found myself shooting an EDM music video in a swingers club one minute and collaborating on a drum and bass remix of Hot Cross Buns the next. So very classical of me.
My videos have clocked up millions of views, with over 30,000 followers across my platforms and almost 400,000 TikTok likes. They’ve been shared by The Chemical Brothers, Pendulum, DJ Zinc and Patrick Prins - and six-time Grammy winners The Chemical Brothers follow me, which I’m still quite pleased about. I’ve also worked with Polydor Records and The Early Music Shop on content and brand collaborations.
Offline, I’ve taken my oboes to Boomtown and created 7AM Oboe Rave, developed with producer Charlotte Devlin. Our sold-out Edinburgh Fringe show was described by The Telegraph as one of the “weirdest shows” at the Fringe, and our crumhorn conga even featured on BBC Radio 4’s Front Row. #slay
I’m currently developing Rave Recorder, a project for primary school children that reinvents the recorder as a rave instrument. Charlotte and I are also set to release our debut EP, The Oboe Suite, in early 2027.
